Your Australian Spiritual Alliance membership is now more valuable than ever before.
From 30th June 2019 the Australian Spiritual Alliance has partnered with a New and Exciting insurance provider, BMS Risk Solutions Pty Ltd (BMS).
BMS is the official and exclusive broker for the Alliance member insurance program. BMS is a Lloyd’s broker and has several global teams, including Melbourne and Ottawa, dedicated to providing coverage, and value-added services to associations and its members.
BMS will bring to all Alliance members exclusive access, not only to comprehensive coverage and cost-effective pricing, but their ability to go beyond a traditional insurance broker and become a strong strategic partner.
BMS recognise the importance of having a solution ready to address members’ practice needs across a variety of environments and business circumstances. Through this, all members will receive access to increased resources to reduce practice risk and exceptional service for all insurance-related enquiries.
Members participating in the insurance program will benefit from increased value and improved services, including new extensions of coverage and increased limits of liability.

Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance provides protection against allegations or claims of professional negligence, acts, errors or omissions in the course of practicing your profession.
Public Liability (PL) Insurance provides cover for bodily injury or property damage to a third party that occurs while conducting your professional activities. This is primarily a legal defence costs cover but also covers settlement costs in the event that you are found to be liable / negligent in causing the injury or property damage.
Product Liability Insurance protects against claims of personal injury or property damage caused by products sold or supplied through your business. It is designed to help protect your business by ensuring that if this happens, you don’t have to pay any legal or court costs.
As a Complimentary Therapists, you face daily interaction with your patients. If an incident happens to occur whilst they are in your care, you may be held accountable. BMS understand this can be a very stressful and upsetting time. With your Alliance Professional Indemnity insurance in place you can be assured BMS are here to make sure your claims experience is as simple and straight ford as possible.
In the Event of a claim
Prompt claims’ reporting is critical to the process of bringing claims to a successful resolution. Members who are aware of any actual or potential claim must report it immediately to both the Alliance and BMS. If you receive an Audit or other Investigation, Complaint or Letters of Demand, Communications from the Board and any other issue related to your practice where you may be in dispute, the notice must be reported in writing to BMS immediately and copied to the Alliance.
In the event of a potential claim or if you are formally served with a statement of claim, you should follow the guidelines below:
- Immediately report any potential claim to BMS Group and the Alliance via phone or email
- Formally document the incident, including details of those involved
- Submit any formal statement of claim to BMS Group
- Report any regulatory investigations or notice of complaint immediately
Members Should Not
- Speak with any third parties about the claim
- Assume any legal fees before reporting a claim
- Offer compensation to independently settle a claim
- Amend or change any previous medical records once a statement of claim has been received
